Five Amazing Books You Should Read ( that also happen to have numbers in the title)

Happy Top Ten Tuesday! This week's posting prompt from host, That Artsy Reader Girl, is to find "Book Titles with Numbers In Them", so I have rounded up five books that I really enjoyed reading that also just so happen to have a number featured in the title. This prompt was way easier than I expected it to be, I guess I've just never realized how many books have numbers in the title. Keep reading to check out my picks!

Station Eleven
by Emily St. John Mandel

If this book doesn't show up on most of the lists for this prompt, I'll be shocked- it's super popular and for a good reason, because it's also a really great read! I put off reading it because of the hype, but it lived up to it for me. If you enjoy post apocalyptic fiction and haven't read this book yet, you should definitely give it a try. One of Us is Lying
by Karen McManus

I noticed that most of the books I read with numbers in the title were also young adult novels. Coincidence? Maybe! did you notice a similar trend. Not only is this a young adult novel, but it is also a young adult mystery - a genre I don't read very often, but in the case of this book, really enjyoed! "One of Us Is Lying" had me guessing right up until the very end - just like a great mystery should!

Five Feet Apart
by Rachel Lippincott

The title of this book is a play on the distance people with cystic fibrosis are supposed to stay away from each other, which is actually six feet. "Five Feet Apart" is a book I didn't expect to love, but it totally got me. Granted this one did start to dip into melodramatic teen moments, overall I feel like this book gave me a peek into the isolation and pain of having a chronic illness, and that made it well worth the read! The 57 Bus
by Dashka Slater

This book on the other hand I absolutely expected to love, and it was just as good as I had hoped! "The 57 Bus" is a non fiction book that follows the lives of two teenagers - Sasha, a white agender teen, whose skirt was lit on fire by Richard, a black male teen. The way their stories are explored in this book is just so compelling, I can definitely see why this book is chosen by schools to explore the difficult issues it addresses. 10% Happier
by Dan Harris

And for my adult non fiction reading friends, may I suggest "10% Happier" by Dan Harris. I heard about this book through an ad on Facebook, of all things lol. The ad began by showing the live, national televised panic attack that Dan Harris had while co hosting Good Morning America. And the book explores how Dan Harris coped with this professionally and personally - it is about self help, meditation, and finding the emotional sources of panic and anxiety.  Check out the video book review I created for "10% Happier" below!

  2. It’s interesting that most of the books with numbers are YA books. I wonder why that is.

I was fascinated with 10% Happier. That’s realistic, I think.

    1. Right!? Maybe adult fiction authors just have less practical titles for their books? Because I also found a lot of non fiction options with numbers also.

    1. It's *super* interesting - a tough read at times, but also kind of hopeful. I love the way that she presented each side of what happened, there was a lot of empathy involved in the writing and reading of it.

  5. 10% Happier sounds so interesting! I don't get panic attacks, but who out there doesn't have at least some anxiety?

    1. Definitely! It has just the right amount of memoir but also investigative journalism as you learn about different self help ideologies. I learned a lot and became fan of Dan Harris : )
