Top 10 Quoteable Unputdownable Novels - Top Ten Tuesday

As a reader, quotable books are definitely my go-to reads.

Sure, I love a great plot or solid character development, those are both important, but the thing that really keeps me reading are those books with little nuggets of life wisdom just begging to be jotted down in a notebook, or more commonly - saved as a photo on my phone. And if a book can do both - then for me, it is unputdownable. This week's prompt for Top Ten Tuesday is quotable books - so keep reading for my list of ten books that I think are the most quotable and also unputdownable.

Lily and the Octopus by Steven Rowley

oh my goodness - does this book, the characters in it, and also the author totally have my heart. This is such a sweet story, and while you do have to be careful when you read it - tissues are definitely involved - but it is such a hopeful and wonderful story. Rowley's writing is so special, and you can definitely tell the heart and thought that went into this story. There are so many wonderful quotes from this book about our special relationship to dogs, but there are even more about love, loss, and coping with grief. I definitely recommend picking this one up!

Beartown by Fredrik Backman

this book hooked me from the first line to the very end and is definitely at the top of my list of books I could not put down while reading. And if you have ever read Fredrik Backman before then you know how quotable his writing is! This story is so powerful and also relatable. There are many beautiful quotes throughout the book about family, sports, and also the darker themes the book covers like consent and rape culture.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completly Fine by Gail Honeyman

There are quotable books and then there is THE quotable book. The book that you spent more time highlighting than not? That is this book for me. I loved "Eleanor Oliphant" so much and happily shove it into the hands of other readers any chance I have. This author is so talented and I can not wait to see what she writes next. I loved this book so much I actually created a YouTube video of all of my favorite quotes from it. Check it out below!

Other books I love with amazing quotes that you should check out!

    1. Thanks! I'll definitely check out your list, too. I always feel like I'm cheating when I go slightly off prompt, especially because they are usually great, but it is also fun to mix it up : )

    2. I think that is the beauty of it when people have a slightly different idea. So, don't worry. I found you on this month's TTT where I always chose a few to go to. I'm glad you were among them, now I can come back again.

    1. Oh Lydia, it is! It is definitely a different book than I would usually pick up. There are some elements of magical realism that would usually completely turn me off of a book, but this author does them so well and they serve such a good purpose. I hope you get a chance to pick it up!

  3. This is going to make me sound really old (which I totally am), but ... I have a notebook where I've been writing down quotes that I like for years. Sometimes, though, I'm just too lazy to actually write them down. It honestly never occurred to me until I read your post that I could TAKE A PICTURE OF THE QUOTE. Duh. How did I not think of that? Thanks for the suggestion!

    Happy TTT!

    1. I am so jealous of your notebook, Susan! Oh, that I could be that consistent! I have definitely tried many, many times to start a notebook like that and I just never stick with it. My phone though, for better or worse lol, is always on me. Don't give up your notebook for the pics but I'm happy to have helped!

    2. Hahaha, I also belong to those "oldies" who have a notebook with quotes. Though, nowadays I find most of them on the internet and save them in my blog list. LOL

    1. I need to do the opposite! Loved the book but haven't checked out the series yet. I waited a long time to read this one and I wish I had done it sooner, such a great story that totally sucked me in. I can definitely see why it would make a great mini series.

  6. I haven't actually read any of the books on your list but at least half of them are on my TBR. I'm happy to know they're quotable! I've started using the highlight function on my Kindle for quotes that I love.

    1. Isn't that feature amazing! All of the books I read on my Kindle are library books though, so I am not sure if it saves the quotes after I return the book? I usually just end up taking a screencap of the highlighted section.

  7. Too funny—I haven't read any of these, but over half are on my TBR pile. Good to know that these are unputdownable then! I especially love that Beartown quote.
